Alejandro Sierra was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. At the age of 12, he picked up his father’s Spanish guitar and began writing his first songs. During his teenage years, Sierra’s father taught him how to play traditional Latin music, primarily Cuban son and Colombian vallenato. However, when Sierra wasn’t home, he was singing in rock bands and playing shows all over town. As a result, his compositions became a fusion of these two styles of music.
